Behind the Dream: Lattes & Canvases at Open Door Tea Shop
- Fri, Mar 23, 2018
- 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Discover one of Denver's newest local businesses! Open Door Tea Shop opened in Denver's Cole neighborhood in January 2018--they employ people who were once incarcerated and sells art by people serving lengthy or life sentences, giving the proceeds directly to the families of those inmates.
Your ticket includes a hands-on painting workshop, a latte from Open Door Tea Shop, a Yelp coffee cup, and treats from Sweet Fabula. 100% of proceeds benefit Denver Arts & Skills Center (DASC,) a non-profit that increases reintegrating adults' access to the arts.
About Behind the Dream:
Yelp Colorado is spending the month of March showing a little extra love and attention to our local immigrant- and minority-owned businesses. It's our goal, this month and every month, to showcase businesses and their owners from all walks of life.
How to Join:
There are twenty spots for this workshop! Tickets must be pre-purchased using the Giveback Tickets link.
About Our Host:
We embrace community, quality tea and simplicity. We did not forget about the coffee lovers; we'll be offering some coffee drinks. At Open Door Tea Shop, we employ reintegrating adults from prison. Artwork sold in the facility is created by inmates and reintegrating adults. All proceeds will go to the families and children left behind due to incarceration. Part of the proceeds will also be given to the inmates to continue to create art in prison. Open Door Tea Shop has over 25 loose leaf tea options, a range of chai teas, chai lattes, iced teas and energy teas.
